Thank you very much for allowing us to videorecord the ceremony at which you will be officiating.

We appreciate that you may have concerns about our presence, particularly where a wedding forms part of a religious service. We would like to assure you that we aim to

  • be respectful of the nature of the service;
  • be as quiet and unobtrusive as possible;
  • give the most optimistic and positive account of the event that we can.

Wherever possible we attend any Church Wedding Rehearsal so as to discuss camera placement with you.

Typical officiants' concerns

Disruption: our cameras are silent and at fixed locations during the ceremony so as to avoid distraction or disruption. We do not add lighting or use mains electricity.

Movement: we move with your permission only,- for example, for the entrance of the bride, the signing of the register and the couple's exit.

Copyright: we purchase from the Performing Rights Society a Limited Manufacture Licence for the recording of copyright music. If this will not cover your music please let us know.

Our ideal arrangement

We will respect any conditions which you may wish to impose but would ask that you consider permitting the following arrangement.

We would ideally use at least two cameras, one of which will be close to the couple.

The main reasons for this are that

  • in the event of a technical failure we do not lose recordings of unrepeatable events;
  • participants can be seen in close-up;
  • we are able to show both the events and reactions to those events.

Below you will see a camera plan for a church wedding. This was devised at the wedding rehearsal where architectural features such as rood screens and columns were considered both as potential obstacles and points of visual interest. The plan determines sight lines and camera placement.

We have returned to the location to record a second wedding before the same officiant so our conduct must have been acceptable!

If you require any additional information please do not hesitate to get in touch.
